Other than brown 601 guards.
Early black guards can be found that are lightly mottled. They don't look like the mottled stocks and PG's. I think there just worn down to the fibers more. I have one side of a early HG that is kinda swirley looking under the right light. It almost looks marbled. Anyway, very lightly mottled guards exist, but you just have to dig around for them. Someone should be along in a minute with a pic of some. |
Unfortunatly + 1 for ^^^..I had asked this same question not long ago and Marksims post a pic of the set he has on his rifle.Anyone who saw them commented that they were the most mottled HGs they had seen,,BUT they were only very slightly mottled,and like Hal mentioned looked more like the fibres were just showing thu from ?wear?. You had to look close,but you could see the "mottling",,even so,they looked great..And NO this set are not for sale or trade,I asked already ...Let me know if you find sets as I would love a pair too!!!

I have gone through literally hundreds of sets of handguards, buttstocks, and grips, and I can say witha fair amount of confidence that out of all the mottled stuff i did find, grips were far more mottled than anything else, followed by a moderate mottle on some buttstocks, and almost no mottling on handguards.
