| I got digging around some old boxes and found two Kit top sling adaptors. One still in the wrap with instructions dated 4/71 , the other flat new still but no wrap or instruction sheet. God I had gobs of these 20 years ago when in uniform. Anyhow would there be any collector value to these vietnam era dated 'kits' ?. |

Pretty much everything I've read leads me to believe that most guys got rid of these back in the day because of the noise they made. I doubt if there would be much of a market for them but, you might receive an IM or e-mail if anybody here is interested. It's a shame it's against the Code of Conduct to offer them for sale here in the Retro Forum.

I like those things. If you want them they can be hard to find.
I use mine with a silent sling, the long version Some paracord around the metal part fixes the sound. I have also wrapped that metal loop in kevlar fishing line, several tight wraps where the FSB contact is metal to metal. Also, heat shrink tubing works but only temporarily. The kit works on multiple firearms, M14 and the S&W M-76 SMG. On the M14 there are many options to place the clip on the gas cylinder. You may have to remove the plug and lock. The M-76.... words cannot explain this method totally blowing your mind. |

there is a better way to attach it to the FSB without it moving around alot and stratching the finish up.
You put the tip of the barrel though the clip and then run the clip around the front vertical section of the FSB... This way you can use the clamp on USGI bipod, and the sling adapter at the same time. The clip will not interfere with a bayonet either. Using the instruction sheet provided by Uncle Sam, the bipod doesnt work well. The clip and bipod dont have enough room under the FSB. |
