I was takin pics of my unfired in the box 1964 SP1 and just noticed that the black web sling is made in the 601 configuration.It has no "belt buckle",just out of curiosity,when did colt switch over to the standard type (black) M1 web sling,or did all SP1's come with the 601 type??? Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. Certainly not all of them! By their rarity I would guess only the first few years. Ever seen one for sale?? |

Never looked for one for sale,and then again,I only learned about the specific 601 sling a couple of months ago from the guys here on arfcom.Then I found one in one of my WW2 trunks..Of coarse I now HAVE to build a 601 around that damn sling!

ETA: search for "time capsule". ETA2: looks like he removed the pictures  , but trust me it is a beautiful rifle.

Yes,I traded for it this past memorial day weekend.I did post the pics and left them for 3 weeks. Unfired,in the box, in the plastic sleave,still has cardboard tube down the barrel,came with original manual,black cotton web 601 type sling,straight handle cleaning rod,2 sp1 mags (blocked),mint bayonet,never removed in the RED box 3X20 scope.
