| Anyone know where to get a 602 upper with or without barrel? |
| I'm not yet good with identifying uppers yet,but you may want to look these over on GBhttp://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=128191038 |

I have a 602 stock that I unknowingly picked out of a box of stocks at Moore Militaria when I was looking for a temporary stock for my 601.
Now that I have an actual 601 stock the 602 stock is ready for my 602 build I'm collecting parts for. I passed on one of the 602 uppers last year. I decided that for the price I could get an NDS-604 upper, modify it, have it engraved, have it anodized and have money left over to go towards an NDS-601 lower. Once I figured out I had a 602 stock I went back and looked for more. I guess I lucked out and got the last one. |

Same with 602 stocks. I've been looking for a 602 stock for a year. They look so much like the later stocks I bet that many are unkowingly sitting on them. At least the 601 stocks are green or brown and easier to identify I have a few of the 602 stocks and I would gladly trade in partial for a 602 upper! |

Building a 602 replica was my first choice, but as others have indicated, they're very tough to do. So I decided to go with a 604 replica instead; still has the classic "slick-side" look to it, but the parts are far easier to find. So I tip my hat to those determined enough to take on the 602 challenge! |

Exactly like a Type B 601 only black. It has a slightly different contour than later stocks and is very light and hollow sounding/feeling. They are hard to tell apart unless you've seen a lot of stocks.
Sirplus sent me (2) 602 stocks on a random buy. See variation guide at top. |

I'm glad this thread started. It seems like there was a "how to" thread a while back on modding a 604 upper into a 602(which I'm doing at this time). Haven't been able to find it. Does anyone know the length of the 3 "flats" above the charging handle? That was actually a 601 upper that was modded from a 604 upper. VAAR had posted the info. |

Does anyone know the length of the 3 "flats" above the charging handle? Here and here there are sone pictures of the flat edges above the charging handle. You may have to scroll down a bit to find them. Should give you an idea where to head. Edit to add: These are links to pictures of 601 uppers. M. |

You can get a 604 in the white upper from NDS for $160.
Modify it to look like a 601 upper. Engraving to look like a 602 is $35. Having it anodized will run you $50. For $260 you can have a stripped 602 upper clone. Then you'll have to get some parts from Heatnbeat. |

I though about having a stamp made and then making a little jig to slide between the rails of the sight channel to support the one side while stamping. I gave up on a 602, but if enough guys went in on the stamp it would sure stamp a lot of uppers on the cheap. It would be nice to get a stamp made with a locating pin that would fit through the windage screw hole and into the jig to make sure the arrow is concentric to the wheel every time.

They could (fairly) easily make 601 uppers, but a 602 would not look right unless they stamped or engraved the upper.
I'm guessing that is not an extra production step they want to deal with. At least they offer 604 uppers in the white so us insane fools and grind away. |

I haven't gotten mine engraved yet.
But last October I asked Ryan at Orion Arms for a quote to have one engraved, complete with a picture of what I wanted and I got the response back that they had a 602 upper there to look at. So Ryan knows what a 602 should look like. He did caution that the engraving would not be as narrow as a 602 stamping. But I figured it would look close enough for me. He did my SBR engraving on my Vector V51 and it is pretty darn narrow. it looks great. |

Does anyone know the length of the 3 "flats" above the charging handle? I posted that same question about a year ago, and the answer I got was that all three "flats" should be .250" when you're done. I'm also modding a Fulton into a 601. But now I think I'll send it to Orion for the 602 treatment! Have you had any issues with your 601/602 charging handle fitting in your Fulton? I have an original CH and a reproduction and niether one fit!!! |

New to me - what flats above the CH? Does the 601 have them also? Like to see a pic. Here you go........ http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=3&f=123&t=370055 |

I think retroblackrifles.com shows them too. [img]http://www.ar15.com/images/smilies retroblackrifles .com is not 100% accurate on the pictures. It is pretty close, but I've noticed mistakes. 602 selector switch shows 601 green pistol grip. 602 flat slip ring show later front pivot pin. Minor things that could cause mistakes to newly RBRD infected people. Still, it is the first place I go for reference. It is one of my favorite sites. |

Sounds like I got lucky, my NDS reproduction charging handle fits great. I was going to order a NDS 604 in the white, but I thought I'd roll the dice with the Fulton and put the price difference toward pins, selector, bolt catch and port door from Heat and Beat, really happy with that choice, he does great work. Besides, I'd just have to build a 604 if I got the NDS upper(that's probably next because I thought about it out loud |
