Hi all -
I've been reading this board for long enough that I blame all of you for my "retroitis" affliction Here are some pics of a Colt 604 upper that I picked up recently. I suspect the upper itself is circa 1964 or 1965 with the original three prong flash hider. The barrel and front sight base was replaced probably at the same time in the late 1970s. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f332/CDMead/Colt%20604%20upper/604_right_side.jpg No forge markings with square port door http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f332/CDMead/Colt%20604%20upper/604_sear_relief.jpg Sear relief http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f332/CDMead/Colt%20604%20upper/604_proof_mark.jpg Square forging with Colt proof markings http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f332/CDMead/Colt%20604%20upper/604_windage.jpg 604 type raised arrow http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f332/CDMead/Colt%20604%20upper/604_counterbored_pivot.jpg Counterbored front pivot pin hole http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f332/CDMead/Colt%20604%20upper/604_front_sight_base.jpg Replacement front sight base (drainhole) with C and bell forge markings http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f332/CDMead/Colt%20604%20upper/604_front_sight.jpg Round front sight http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f332/CDMead/Colt%20604%20upper/604_barrel.jpg Late barrel http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f332/CDMead/Colt%20604%20upper/604_flash_hider.jpg Three prong flash hider The upper is a greenish gray that reminds me of the parkerizing I see on a lot of World War II US arms. Any gloss is from a nice protective coat of oil and the flash. I can't wait to fire this. Charlie |

Thanks. I fear there is no cure.
Here's a very late variation 603 retro I built earlier. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f332/CDMead/My_rifle.jpg I still have a lower left and don't know what to do now....
