So heres the story,

I built up a Dissapator from a M1S barrel and stuck a A2 upper on it with a nice set of Triangle hand guards on it. I have 1 of the old slick side no forward assist uppers made by colt lying around and so I got to thinking.....

I love the feel and the look of retro guns, my question is was there ever a Factory Dissy Colt with the A1 slick side uppers?

The A1 is either going to be put on the dissy or on a mint condition SP1 barrel assembelly I have.

What would you guys do and does any 1 have a picture of the mentioned slick side A1 Dissapator.

An "A1" usually referes to a foward assist upper (M16A1).  A slabside is just that, a slabside (M16).

As requested,  here's a pic of a pseudo early slabside dissy with a 16" barrel.

Here's a  605 clone (15" barrel).

The 605 was pretty damn close to an A1 "dissy."  They had full rifle length gas systems, but that's all hidden under the handgaurds anyway.  Hang the dissy barrel on there with a three prong hider.  You'll like it. And then show pictures.

I have one like that.  Made it from a 1:7 government A2 Colt barrel cut down to 16".  Works like a charm.

I just had one of these barrels cut down myself for a BM style dissy clone.  I haven't decided on which way to go yet... either an A2 upper and A2 buttstock, or a flattop upper (w/carry handle) with M4 tactical stock?

As long as your eyes do not tire from shooting iron sights (like mine), you would be good to go for either the A2 or flattop.
