You could always finish any build you start BEFORE starting six more builds.

Good luck with that.

One build at a time, and resist the temptation that arises when you see that you have three complete rifles and a single extra forward assist...  It can be tempting to rationaliza another build because you already have "some parts".

Well at least I know that I am not buying plastic junk.  I can get the value out of the 16 stuff I have.

peepshowal: Kinda hard to wait because by then you cant find the parts you need etc

I've managed to cure my BRD, put it in remission, or at least make it easier to manage.  I followed a specific protocol:

1. Get a CHP.
2. Buy a 1911.
3. Buy another 1911.
4. Buy another 1911.
5. Start looking at Hipowers and Walthers.
6. Start researching Glocks.
7. Pick up a Ruger LCP.
8. TBD.

Same here kinda. Still fiddlin' with Retro AR's but with a twist.

Oh, also...

1. Buy a Garand
2. Restore a Garand
3. Buy another Garand
4. Start looking at 1911's
5. Start looking at M1 carbines

Hope I never start spending as much time on the CMP site as I do here.

I need to stay away from that CMP site.  Since I'm retired mil and VFW life member, the lure of getting a Garand shipped to my door with the only external interaction being the notary at the bank is almost too much to resist.  Almost.

Unfortunately RBRD has had the opposite effect; it's cured (actually probably only put it in remission) my wheelgun disease. I've stopped buying every wheelgun I see, but now I can't resist the draw of the retro AR-15. Maybe I should buy something off-the-wall and see how that goes...

The Retro AR hobby is as much an addiction as the FAL hobby.  All FAL's are retro and from all over the world.  I gathered parts and reassembled a Falklands War Argentine FAL (as well as many others) around a set of hand guards.

Yes, it's pretty sad but hey, it's better than doing crack!

I got terminal BRD:

Unlike the other posters:

(1) Sold 1911 Remington Rand & P35,
(2) Bought another upper,
(3) Sold a bunch of rare Arisakas (Cav rifle, Cav carbine, etc),
(4) Bought more AR parts,
(5) Sold some Italian Vetterli carbines (with bayonets!!),
(6) Bought more parts,
(7) Sold L42A1 complete in the wooden case,
(8) Bought another......

Well - you get the idea

PS:  Now I need another 1911

ETA:  No4 MkII (one of the new, in wrap rifles), 1941 Carcano, 1911 Schmidt-Rubin rifle, Ruger Super Blackhawk, Remington 03A3(What was I thinking!?

Good call.  One can also get into old school FALs and Galils like the IDF used in the 70s and 80s.

Why mess with the methadone when the heroin is just fine?

If all you "retro" junkies wanna really go bonkers,,,try putting together a Army M1C sniper garand, then go for the Marine Corp MC1 sniper garand!!!!! Not many of either made to begin with!!!!!!!   P.S. they must be built with 100% original verified receivers and parts.......

I sold off a few Garands to fund this RBRD.

I do still have at least one of each USGI manufacturer, though.

I've sold off a few milsurps as well.  A Type 38 Arisaka is leaving the gun safe this week and my matching K98 is on consignment.  My French collection (1886 Lebel, Berthier and pre-war MAS 36) was liquidated months ago.
