I got a package in the mail today from you know who.

Now here en lies the problem; I have two uppers to temporarily fit to the lower. I will order a 601 and two XMs when they are available and they will fit these receivers and two other 603s that I will have by next week.

Here is option #1. Put it on a early 604:

Or, I could put it on a late 603:

What to do until I get the rest of my lowers?

I would put the NDS-16A1 on the late 603, and change that ejection port cover to an A1 cover.

I have an A1 port door on order from Gunny's. I also have 4 type D stocks and 1 type C.

Being a Air Force type I would put the 604 on it.

Late 603; slick-sides just don't do it for me for some reason unless it's a 605.

Same here...if it doesn't have a forward assist, then it looks like an SP1 :) Certainly no offense to those that do like them....

USAF here as well, 604 would be my vote, that fa projection gets caught on things.

However the barrels on both of those uppers are way too long!

AKARS has a good point - I posted late at night when exhausted and didn't realize we were talking full fence. I am going to change camps and say 603 w/ birdcage - M16A1. There were many examples of later 604's with full fence lowers and serrated bolt carriers, but only early 604s are really interesting to me. I just have really come to appreciate the slicksides.
