I can't say taht I have ever seen a buttstock NIW, but the plastic bag, CVI paper, and small white slip with description and codes on it matches what all the other NIW M16 parts that I have seen. I have some right side handguards in particular that are the same method, so I would say it is 'the real deal'. |
| Unfortunately, NIW stuff loses it's value the minute you unwrap it. I've seen pics of NIW trapdoors like yours - they all seem to be hard plastic buttplates, as opposed to the early rubber-coated ones, but that's not a bad thing nesc. Great score - especially on the upper! |
Uhhh, What's it worth? (just kidding) About 10 years ago I purchased a bunch of retro parts on e-bay. Most of them came NIW. Of course I opened and used almost all of them. Including a TD buttstock like this one. Still have a couple of things left, unopened. Have never thought of them as an investment, but haven't opened them either. |
Just my $.02, I say you should either use it on a retro build, or save it for a future retro build, or sell it to someone else to use on a reto build. I'll tear open a 20, 30, or 40 year old package in a heartbeat to replace a beatup wornout part on one of mine! Tha's jes' Beel |
I may eat my wards but I don’t plan on doing anymore builds with A1 TD stocks. I have enough to build all my future rifles and carbines. Ill keep it as a spare but would rather find a used one to use because my rifles are NOT safe queens. I also have a Calvary Arms C1 stock that I can use if I think I’m going to be banging it around. |

You cannot find any deals at gunshows, ARFcom has told me so repeatedly.
