I got this 605 upper the other day. It was a little roough on top of the carrying handle. That has been taken care of now. Off to US Anadozing to be refinished.

Any one have a closeup of the shortened barrel? The barrel that came with was a standard 20" "M VP 12" which would be the correct era for the upper.

The guy I got this 605 upper from- had 250 uppers he rescued from the cutting torch 15yrs ago. He only had two 605 uppers like the one pictured.
One has to be persistant and somewhat lucky to find this stuff. I tracked down friends and dealers I used to know back in the 80's to find some of my stuff.

Bingo, that's TOO COOL!!!, now can you or 45bravo or any other of my retro buddies post a pic of a streetlegal 16" 605 clone? I just don't want to go SBR.

Coctailer, could you take a picture of the upper from the top down, so I can see the profile of the "hump".

It looks as is it is higher at the front and tapers down to the rear ring.

Mike, I think it's an optical illusion caused by the angle of the forward taper.  Follow the lines it makes against the side of the receiver in Cocktailer's third photo.

But why in the world would you want to hang a weight moderator on it?

A 605 is street-legal with the three prong.

Because it's different I reckon...  On a KISS build like that, weight isn't really an issue in my book.

I tried hanging a KX3 on an 18" heavy barrel once. Took it off before I ever put a round through it. It was an issue. Pig looked good though.

The 605 uppers are cool, I haven't really looked at one before. It almost appears that they had been forged for a forward assist and said,  naaaa heck with it, shave it off....

45Bravo did the barrels on both of mine.  Permanently pinned 3 prong hider.  They run perfect!

Disclaimer: Does not have autosear, all semi-auto components. just surface markings for visual enjoyment.

I know... the sling is on backwards, too busy to take new photos.

That's the plan.

We're going to do 50 of them (NDS-605's) along with the first batch of 100 NDS-603's.

The regular slickside is also correct for the 605........got to justify the one I am using on my .22lr build..(the 604s are really correct as well.)

Grip has slight amount of mottle to it.  I was trying to go with a "factory new" look on this one, the butstock and handguards were in new condition also.

The barrel was a 20" Colt later model.  I could not bring myself to have one of my VP "12" marked barrels chopped and then it not work.  I had 45Bravo do the barrel work over a year ago.  At the time there was some doubt about reliability.  I would not hesitate to send in the correct VP barrell now, as these two run perfectly.

I built the 605 in the display for my Son on his 30th birthday.  The Retro-BRD has now passed down to another generation.

I made up that manual to go with the display.  Has the history of the 605 with every picture and spec I could pilfer and put into a booklet.

45Bravo,

Are you doing any 605 barrel work?  I have a 20" I would love to have cut down for a 605 build.

I tried to send an IM but your box is full.
