[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Recess on front lug of upper...

Hi,

I have a slick side upper and it has the rebated area on the front lug (see picture below, from retroblackrifle.com, to show what I'm talking about), but the "R" and "arrow" on the rear sight area of the carry handle are present and they protrude (not recessed).

My question is, was the rebated area on the lug common on other models than just the 601? I wonder what model of upper I have. It has the triangle and square "C" stampings on the forward/left area of the carry handle.

I have a colt M16 A2 upper with "C" "AF" forge markings that has the same recessed front lug as you show. Upper has the black finish, not earlier colt gray.

Sounds like a 604.
It also has a rebated front lug.

Raised sight markings = 604

I've had some A1's with the rebated front lugs as well.

Yep, Every 601 or 602 upper I've seen have a rebated front lug, and the 603's and 604's I have, have it.

Notice I didn't say I have a 601 or 602 upper? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
