[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Model 733 question...

Would the upper and lower on an early Model 733 be XM-Gray or Pre-Ban Gray? Also, would an early Model 723 be Black or Gray?

I've got a couple of Colt made A1 upper with case deflectors (marked C and H) uppers that are the darker shade of gray, as well as a 733 upper that is black, like this one: http://www.autoweapons.com/photosv/m16a2comup.html

I don't know about XM Grey, but I've seen 733's in pre-ban grey and black. In fact, I may be wrong, but I think they are still in Colt's current catalog.

Maybe I just don't understand the shading right. Looking on the description at US Anodizing's website, the XM gray ATB darker than Pre-Ban gray.

Actually they are neither and both, Mine is medium(M16A1 grey) grey and black in some spots(like the interior) were the machining made the finish real smooth.

I have seen them in the real light preban grey as well.
