Hello all, I am new to the M16/AR & AK world of shooting. Can someone explain to me how stripper clips are used? And how was the ammo packaged in the USGI cardboard boxes? Many thanks, Greg |
Greg - Stripper clips are metal clips that hold ammo for easier charging into magazines. Magazines can either be fixed, not removable from the firearm, or detachable, removable. Charging the magazine simply means loading it with ammo. HTH Bugs |
Thanks, I get that part. But how is the magazine charged? I have several clips and the spoon. I just need to figure out how you charge the magazine and how it makes it easier than the way of loading one round at a time. |

Excellent, just what I was looking for. Again, many thanks. My latest build...... http://willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules/gallery/albums/GregS/M16_right_side.sized.jpg |
You've never tried a combat reload??? Go ahead - balance your rifle in one hand, hold the magazine in the other hand, put the loader on the magazine, insert a full stripper clip, ram it down, toss the empty clip; repeat as needed...generally while running... ![]() They don't file the sharp edges off those loaders/stripper clips... |
Man, if I'm doing that, we got other problems...especially since I'm retired... |
That reminds me of a conversation I overheard once...A soldier was asking our C-130 loadmaster why we weren't carrying any weapons...The loadmaster told him that if we got to a place where we really needed weapons, there would be plenty of them lying on the ground...
