| After building three Aks,two Romys and a Yugo,I am going to try my hand at a retro AR. I just bought an A1 upper from Gunny's surplus and it looks pretty good. Bore shows some wear but lots of rifling left. Metal and finish is good with just a few dings, same with the handgards. I am planning on using an NDS receiver and then just price shopping the net and local gunshows for the rest. Unfortunately,I live in NY,so I cant build an exact retro. No bayo lug and no flash hider. I can have a muzzle brake,as long as its permanately attached. I can still have the flavor of an A1,and thats better than nothing. |
72Harley, You may not be able to have a flash hider, but there IS an alternative that would still give you "the flavor" of a retro 3-prong. One of the members here, 45Bravo, makes a non-flash-hider lookalike that you might want to check out. Go about 1/2 way down the page here and you'll find it. |
| Viking,I havent really thought about what BCG I am going to use. The Syracuse gunshow is next month, and I plan on doing a bit of shopping then. I still need the lower, lower parts kit, buttstock and grip as well as BCG,so its a big list. I'm in no hurry as I have 3 newly built AKs and a CETME I just bought to keep me busy in the meantime. |
