I just took in trade a Colt HBAR and I am loooking to find the production date, model, and value.

This is on the rec.  AR15 A2
                         HBAR SPORTER
                          cal 223
                         SER. SP 234***

It came with what looks like the Delta scope and mount, also has the delta stickers from the pg, but they are on the inside of the grip (not sure why )

Any help would be appreciated.

On the homepage near the bottom are all the reference materials which includes this link here : Serial Number List for Colt's

eta - as to the model - hard to beat the chart at www.biggerhammer.net the AR15 section/uppers IIRC

Value is something anyone with the common-sense & foresight to simply peruse the prices on Gunbroker, Guns America.com or any other firearms for sale site can determine.....

It was made from 1985-1989 probably, I have an A2 HBAR myself.

I think they went back and issued the A2's with unused serial number ranges that stopped in the 70s or whatever.
Looks like mines in the 217xxx range

a "transitional HBAR" I have is in the 249xxx range.  Note lack of "AR15-A2" in the roll marks

I just got off the phone with Colt CS, she said it is a transitional model made between '84-'85. That is all she could tell me about it.
It has all the features of the Delta, but the guy didn't have the cheek piece or case, just the scope and mount.

Was the person you got the weapon from the original purchaser?  If not those components could easily have been misplaced or otherwise not transfered around with the weapon.  From the rollstamping and the rest of the features described it sounds like some variation on the R6600 or R6600DH theme.
