Is it possible to attach a front sight after having a barrel permanently affixed?

I bought an M16A1 upper, and I want to use all the Colt parts that I can, and attach them to a 14.7 CMMG lightweight to make a 653.

So would I be screwed if I had the flash hider pinned and welded before I had the front sight mounted?

There are FSB's you can mount with the FH pinned, but if you want a period authentic FSB, you need to have the FSB installed prior to pinning the FH.

Thanks man.... Yeah as a striving purist, I could see myself in quite the pickle if I did it out of order.
