Known issue with old company not with new ownership. Don't kill the guys business for crap the old owner did.

I would give ASA a shot... they are under new ownership, as some others mentioned.

JPS is the new owner of the ASA name. Why on earth they want to use that name is beyond me.

After LMT sued ASA in 2000 and won over non-payment ASA had to look elsewhere for uppers, lowers and barrels. They found JPS who started machining uppers, lowers and turning barrel blanks for them.

Everyone praised the old ASA/LMT uppers and lowers but I have heard of tolerance issues with the JPS stuff. ASA barrels have always been problematic depending on what hack cut the gas port and chamber.

JPS gave his reasoning behind keeping the ASA name elsewhere on ARFCOM. I don't understand it either.

This is the first I've heard of any issues with the new owner as everyone here keeps saying don't buy ASA. I don't know of a single person that has admitted to buying from ASA under the new owner.

What specifically are the "tolerance" issues you speak of?

FCG pin holes and magwells.

In one of the other threads JPS offered me a free M4 upper if I would say nice things about it. I of course told them no.

I also heard the bad stuff on them some years ago when the old owner had it, so a few months ago I decided to give them a call and see what they had to offer, I spoke with Mikael Neal at ASA and asked a few of the obvious questions like quality and accuracy. So after hereing that they GUANTEE 1/2 moa a 100 yds I decided to order the 308 from him. Shipping was very fast and had it in a few days. Basically put I'm very happy with it I have only been able to go out and shoot a few times with it and that 1/2 moa he told me about well it is very true. I had shot few goups with some ammo that was loaded for another gun and my average goup size was .516 that is including a flier [I know it was my falt]

I also used one of there barrels in a AR build I did and it avaraged .577

Need less to say I will definatly order from them again!!

I thought he offered a free upper for you to critique honestly - good or bad - and you declined.  I do not recall that he asked for a positive review in return.
