Update: 10/23/07

We are down to fewer than:

(TEMPORARILY SOLD OUT)   NDS-16A1 lowers

5 (VARIANT VERSION, SEE POST BELOW)  NDS-601 lowers

14  NDS-XM16E1 lowers

These are the last of the batch we cut from 7075 T6 "A2" forgings.

We will start on the new 6061 T6 "A1" forgings soon. I don't expect to have finished parts until late November/early December at the earliest.

The first batch will be NDS-16A1's.

What differences are there between the 7075 and 6061 alloys in terms of appearance, strength, etc. of the receivers?

The receivers will be pretty much the same. 7075 is a little stronger and held up better in the extreme climate of Viet Nam.

But tens of thousands of the 6061 based parts are still in use, and we won't be shipping any to tropical third world hot spots.

As far as color, Victor told me its easier to get the correct match with 6061.

Plus, because this is a proprietary forging tool we own, it will not be abused with crazy production numbers like the A2 tools. This will maintain a better surface finish with fewer cosmetic flaws in the forgings.

Also, I don't have to do all the hand work on the back end, they will be "as forged".

We are very happy with the new forgings, and I'm sure our customers will be too.

I called and left a message as well, but is there any way to reserve one of the A1 receivers?  I'd get the funds out ASAP.

+1

I'd like one of the A1 lowers.  I can get a copy of the FFL from the pawnshop monday...

We don't "hold" or reserve parts, it's not fair to the guy that sent in his order w/payment already.

If you send in an order and we are out of parts, we will give you the option of waiting on the next batch, and applying your order to the new parts.

Or, having us send your payment back to you. Whatever is preferable.

I'd like to order an NDS-XM16E1 lower, as soon as I can find a reasonable FFL holder here in WNY to receive it...

But I'm curious - what are those 3/32" roll pin hole/pins in the rear of the lower, below the buffer tube hole, for???  Obviously they hold something in...but what???

postino, try this link to see if you can find an FFL close to you. It worked for me when I needed one for my Nodak lower.

On an original 601 or XM16 lower they used a roll pin to secure the buffer tube.  However, Mike and Harlan decided that doing so with the repros would cause more trouble than it was worth, so on the NDS lowers it is for looks only and does not actually intersect the threads.

Thanks angus6! That works better...but I guess my values are pretty old...these guys are asking $30-$40 average to receive a weapon (mostly rifles)...To me, that seems a lot...

I guess beggars can't etc...

I'll contact the nearest and see if he'll consider ordering/receiving from NoDak...

I've Edited my first post to reflect inventory AS OF TODAY.

You will note the reference to a "variant version" of the NDS-601 lowers.

5 of these don't have the "buffer tube" roll pin hole in them. 2 of those also don't have the "+" sign on the right side.

I don't consider these "blems", so there will not be a reduced price on them.

If your order came in, and we are out of what you ordered, I will contact you with info on your options.

I got mine  Thanks for making these!  I've recommended them to a bunch of people who have asked me about the Fulton Armory Legacy rifle (I have one, and get PMs from time to time).  Nothing against Fulton, It's just easier to build a more authentic M16 or M16A1 clone by building up one of your lowers and slapping a real M16 or M16A1 upper on.  Thanks again!
