I came across what I think is an early M16 barrel.

There are only a couple markings I can find. On the bottom of the barrel, between the sight base and the muzzle, there is a "12" stamped. I assume this is the twist.
Between the 2 legs of the front sight, on the right side, is an inverted pyramid shaped stamp with what looks like a stylized VP in the middle.

Anybody know what I have?

My 602 barrel has the same markings. Is the FSB cast or forged? Can you take pics?

The front sight base has been cut off and made into a gas block only. It looks to be forged.
I'll try to post pics if that helps.

Sounds like a standard barrel from 64-66.
