| OK, this is probably a stupid question, but anyway.....I have a Colt SP1 slickside upper. It is one of the large hole uppers. The hole in the adapter bushing it came with is visibly off center. My question is is the bushing supposed to be like that, to allow for receiver differences, or is it just poorly made? Depending on how I orient the bushing hole, the pin either fits or does not, and it changes the way the upper sits on the lower a significant amount. I'm relatively sure this will lead to problems in the future, but I don't know if I need to simply adjust it to where it needs to be and locktite it in, or if the bushing I have is a POS and needs to be replaced. Thanks! |
| First time Ive ever given advice on here but I just finished putting together an SP1 with the large hole. I got the bushing from DPMS I think and it took a little fiddling, but the pivot pin went in fine and the gun is tight. And yes. Mine was made just like yours. |

The bushing in the upper is supposed to be offset, but it's also supposed to be permanently loctited or epoxied into the hole I've even used three of the pieces to "convert" my SP1 to a complete small hole unit. Had to trim the two for the holes in the lower. That way I can give my XM177E2'd upper a rest after 30 years and mount my M4gery upper on it. |
| I just took my large hole Colt Sporter upper to the range mounted on my small hole dpms lower. The bushing makes the pins very snug to remove and a light tap with a platic punch is needed to get the front pin out. The bushing was blue lok-tited in and held up during disassembly. The gun shot rediculously accurately with the Hbar upper in place. |
