This whole 607 thing has me jonesing for a project....however at this time I am going to do something a bit different that the 607. That is in capable hands at this time. Got me a 601 stock for free the other day.....gonna do something really different. Without getting into heavy detail, you guys know I am very liberal when it comes to retro. You purists out there have me beat by a country mile. I have my own little thing called Advanced Retro, where I combine old and new into very shooter friendly packages. This will be my newest venture.....I plan on it taking most of the year. Here are some "possibilities" that I am exploring. The old 601 stock in the pic is not cracked but very old and scratched up....as are the old school glass handguards. They are due to be sanded down and refinished in old school brown....( at least at this time ). When my taxes come in I am gonna get me a 601 brown pistol grip. I may change this and go with wood....my experimentation with the stocks will determine this. Anyhow....ignore the C7 stock for the moment but expect a C7 upper....very likely a Nodak lower...and maybe...just maybe...a very special pencil barrel....I may try for a midlength 605 "style" gun. I ahve something very special in mind for the finish, also. So.....here is the start:

I'm having fun building up a retro A1 and a XM177A2 sure enough, reliving my childhood so to speak, but lemme tell you one thing, if we'd have had all the stuff currently available back when I was a kid....well....Who-Raw indeed! The next one will be modern as inside plumbing and have all the new toys. Fun is fun, but the next one will be stone cold serious. Andouille the Heretic, treading water in the New Age.

LOL....I call it "A1+" LOL.....like this:  BUT: in true retro spirit, I sold off the stuff to one of our good "True Blue Retro" guys....in fact, I have seen some of the Colt love that I used to own floating around here....  .It is the whole RETRO thing that gives me my ideas. I absolutely love retro....but I also enjoy little things about the newer guns...hence the blend. It is the finish that will truly set this off.....that and the mid length concept. |

Desertmoon Special.....I like it!!!! By the way... I plan on this project taking a while..... Also.....I may be going to wood with this....the thing that has me "worried" is doing the mid length bit with chopped front handguards....I SHOULD just do a rifle....but I want something very unique.... |
