I didn't know there was more than one type of forward assist housing. ??

There isn't.  All forward assists are mounted on the horizontal plane.

Oh, I know. I was just trying to question what exactly he's referring to. I forget its hard to type sarcasm. :)

GENTLEMEN,
i will not argue !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got a photo of what you are wanting to build?  Maybe that will help us understand what you are trying to achieve and then we can point you in the right direction...

Yeah...they were...

Unless you're talking about the bar thing that they made onto a very early charging handle that MIGHT have been a forward assist. Cant think of where I saw it. But if thats what you're talking about, you're NEVER gonna find it.

Perhaps he's refering the differing shapes of the FA? A1r vs. A2?

XM16E1 had FA also.

He is talking about the housing that hooks up to the hydraulics in the forward assist fluid.

EVERY A I have seen with a forward assist had it in the EXACT same place and orientation, just different 'Plungers'

Look, you're trying to insist on something that we aren't quite "getting".

There is only one "style" of forward assist housing that has ever been outside of the toolroom as far as the AR and M16 are concerned.  That is, until JUST recently and those have nothing to do with retro gear and are more AR10 based for the most part.

The only reason we are poking at you is becuase you keep insisting on something that these guys know doesn't exist.

Trust me when I say you will NOT find a more knowledgeable group of guys (when it comes to the AR and M16) than you will find here.  I gave up trying to learn about the AR...these guys have it PEGGED, so I just just follow them around and go "Gee!" and "Wow!" and "SWEEEET!".

Don't get so angry yet, until you can show us what the heck you are talking about....and learn to take a bit of poking and prodding...it'll make your internet experience a lot better in the long run.
