I just received a mint set of triangular handguards. I installed them on my Stag 20" rifle to add a touch of retro . Once I installed them I found some slop, is this how is supposed to be, maybe I'm just used to A2 handguards? Thanks Paul |
Can you be more specific? The handguards shouldn't have much, if any, play at the slipring. The rear of the handguards encompass the barrel nut and there are ridges that coincide with the teeth in the nut. There normally isn't much if any movement at this end unless the handguards are well used. Also, this section of the handguard that encompasses the barrel nut should prevent forward and aft movement as well. On the other hand, the front end is usually where there is some play. The triangular cap isn't always to spec and will allow some twisting or lateral movement of the handguards at the front end. A plastic or wooden mallet could be used to gently tap in the sides of the handguard cap in order to tighten the fit. Uh, the handguards should be removed before doing this though. |

Thanks for the info. I took a better look yesterday and it seems that the top sections of the handguard are not exactly touching each other (the little tabs near the vent holes) also there is litte chip in one handguard (where is locks onto the barrel nut) I'll take few pics and post it in the evening. |
