While admiring my retro stuff, I noticed that one of the early handguards is mottled brown and black.  Anybody else seen this?  I'm not talking earliest brown, these are mostly black and the mottling is only noticable in bright light.

Seen a few sets of handguards.  This is one of my first mottled grips, and it's the same way - more apparent in direct sunlight or other bright light:

Have recently acquired a few more that are more than 50% brown.  Will get pics as soon as I get them cleaned up.

Yes, the one I sold was very brown. It stuck out like a sore thumb when grouped with black ones. I knew it would be one of the first to go.

Buttstock and Grips.

I find Grips all the time, I don't normally see as many Buttstocks and Handguards.

Still not a 100% sure of the story on these.

Wow, those are NICE! If you ever wanna sell one of those top two grips (or a stock or handguard set), let me know. I've kinda wanted to get a set for an XM16E1 clone.

I've got a mottled PG and another PG that looks mottled but was advertised as black. I was originally gonna cut it for a forward grip, but now since I saw how mottled it is, I'm not gonna. I'll try to get some pics real quick...

I forgot where I bought some of those from, but there is a site selling A1 grips that look just like that.  I bought 2 and they were about 30 brown....I was actually upset......Are the retro A1 grips brown when new or they just heavily used?

Here's my grips:
The right one was advertised as the mottled one and the left one was the "black" one.

This is the top of the mottled grip. Anyone have any idea what these are made out of?? Fiberglass? Regular plastic?

I have a brown mottled no trap buttstock. Very shiny black with flecks of brown throughout.

I've got a mottled buttstock that I got from Numrich. I also just bought a mottled grip off the EE, but I haven't been home to see it yet. I would also like to know the story behing these. I have some old darkroom trays that are made of the same stuff, but are finished more roughly.

The furniture on one of my SP1s looks like these.  And here I was trying to wash it off!

I have so much to learn....
