I'm looking for the approx. value of an old Colt SP1. The rifle is in excellent condition and does not have the forward assist on it, it does have a bayonet lug and flash hider. The owner claims it is all original and has not been fired in over 30 years.

Thanks

Sorry, I don't have the serial number. Are there certain serial number ranges that are more desirable than others ?

A serial neumber can esasily identify an approximate production year- basically you can tell if the guy is telling the truth about 30+ years old.  Also can help identify what features are original.

If you can get the guy to tell you the number it will tell you what year it was made.
The earlier ones command a higher price.
