| Any advantage of an Adams Arms or any piston upper over a good DI upper? Also for just a range toy any reason to get 1/7 over 1/9? |

You could probably build a better upper yourself... Quoted:

It's a SBR, not a pistol, and the specs say 7", not 7.5"... thought it was a 7.5, but I can definitely just buy the upper After talking with some friends and finding out freedom group owns DPMS, I will just build one. Should be fun to build my first upper. |

Any advantage of an Adams Arms or any piston upper over a good DI upper? Also for just a range toy any reason to get 1/7 over 1/9? I have the Adams Arms 7.5" Tactical Elite Upper http://www.adamsarms.net/7-5-pdw-tactical-elite-upper and I love it. Runs 100% right out of the box, pretty soft recoil, no failures whatsoever (except when I tried to run a Wolff XP + H3 buffer). In hindsight I might have preferred the Tactical Evo http://www.adamsarms.net/7-5-pdw-tactical-evo-upper for the slimmer handguard profile, but I'm happy with this one. Sure, you can save some $$$ by going DI, but they're a mess to clean - this one is 15-20 minutes from start to finish, and I'm *anal* about cleaning - so I strip the piston system every time! You could also DIY, but look how many folks have functional issues then. Completely fair to trade time and hassle against money, I got mine on sale from Midway with free shipping and haven't had to invest any more of either... YMMV, etc, Richard |
