Can somebody past a link to rules on pistol build - or answer questions 1. Overall length limit ? 2. Barrel length ? 3. Buffer tube ( can I use a regular MULTI position buffer tube with some type of cover on it ?) 4. Front grip , angled foregrip - any rules Apologize for asking what I sure is already tagged somewhere , but I'm having difficulty using "search" function from my iPad |

I don't think there is a maximum length for a pistol 2. No barrel length as long as it holds true to other pistol rules 3. Whatever buffer tube you use cannot readily accept a stock 4. No vertical front grip unless the overall length is 26" or more. Angled forward grips are okay no matter the pistol length. |

1. No limit, but if it's over 26" ATF considers it an other, not a pistol.
2. No limit. 3. You can use any buffer tube you want, cover or no. The potential for problems arise whe you start posting pics on the net of a combination of parts that cannot be legally assembled. 4. Over 26" you can put a VFG or AFG on. Under 26" you can use an AFG. |

Under 26" you can use an AFG. 1 - 26"+ is still a pistol - if a VFG is added to a 26"+ pistol, it becomes a firearm. The stripped receiver is an other. 2 - Correct. 3 - The problems arise when you POSSESS a combination of parts that can only be assembled in an illegal manner. Ie, an 11" pistol w/ a carbine buffer tube, a separate carbine stock, and no other 16"+ ARs in the house. 4. Correct, see #1. |

... 3 - The problems arise when you POSSESS a combination of parts that can only be assembled in an illegal manner. There's your correct answer. Full auto stuff or can aside, look at a part or component: - Is there an illegal config I could use this with? - If no, cool. - if yes, then - is there also a legal config I could use this with? - if yes, cool - if no, don't have it - OS |
