Just curios if these patterns of carbon deposits are normal for an AR-15 Pistol as this is my first AR-15 build.  I was worried I may have installed the gas block/tube wrong but wasn't sure.

That is more gas leakage than I like on mine.

Any suggestions to remedy?

Clean it off well and put about a hundred rounds through it.  The carbon should start to seal it up.  If the pistol is functioning OK I would not worry too much about it.  Every 100 rounds or so clean it off (on the outside, do not remove the gas block) and see if it starts to lessen after a few hundred rounds.  Only solution is to replace the gas block and gas tube and see if you can get one that fits tighter.
I must say, I have built a lot of ARs in wildcat calibers and so I have done more than the normal amount of trouble shooting getting these wildcats to run properly, and I have never seen a gas block leak that much.  The front of it looks like gas is blowing out the front of the gas tube and not out from under the gas block.  That is not good at all and if it is blowing out the front of the gas tube then that is a first for me.  Surely nobody cut off a gas tube to make it fit a handgun length system leaving the gas tube open at the front, did they?  The pistol would never work if that were the case though.

No its a pistol length gas tube, I can see if I can get a picture of the backside of it.  It has over 300 rounds through it at this point and that area was never cleaned.

Well, if it is functioning OK i'd just clean off the residue and keep shooting and see if there is less residue next time.
