| Hey everyone. I received my phase 5 tactical free float rail this week and I'm just looking it over trying to figure out the best approach to assembly. I have the phase 5 barrel and gas block as well. It looks like the only way to assemble this is to put the gas block and tube on AFTER putting the rail on. Is this normal? It seems like it's a pain in the ass to do it that way. I think I can probably get it done.. it just seems like an akward way to assemble my upper. Anyone else have any experience with this rail? |

I'm having a hard time visualizing why the installation needs to be in reverse. I have installed Troy, DD, Samson, Diamondhead, YHM and none of them make you install the rail then the gas block/tube. If you had a rail system and your gas block is exposed, you can install the gas tube and block afterward, but that would be a lot more awkward to do.
I'm looking at some Phase 5 rails photos and they don't look that much different than a typical rail system in term of installation. Maybe some pics of your rails? Al |
| I will add some pictures tonight. On the muzzle brake end, the rail is wide open. On the upper receiver end, it's closed and threaded. I can't slide the rail over the gas block, nor assemble it over an installed gas tube. There are holes all along the end of the rail that look like pre-determined slots for the gas tube to slide into. |
| Having never held a Phase 5 rail in my hands - Is the barrel nut attached to the rail? If so you need to remove the barrel nut from the rail, remove barrel nut from the gun (if there is one installed) install new barrel nut, install gas block/tube, then install rail. |
