Hey guys
I searched around and informed my self a bit but I'm still sketchy on how this all works. I was going to have an AR pistol made for me but since then I decided to buy a lower and build it my self. However reading on here has confused me Can I jutst buy a new lower and then buy the upper and other parts and build it my self? Do I have to register anything? Not a new gun owner but completely new to AR pistols. Please note I do want to make it a legal SBR later on in life. Thanks guys |
| As long as you purchased a stripped lower that was not a rifle previously, you can make it into a pistol. Most will say that if you intend to make it a SBR in the future, make sure that you do not buy the stock and have it around until you received your SBR paperwork as it may be interpreted as "intent to manufacture." |

Understood about the stock. So all I have to do is call my guy order my new just made lower and get to work on my build? Put in my paper work for SBR Then buy my stock :) Ok now you guys can help me avoid making errors What online stores do you suggest to visit for my pistol parts? I would like to build this in .45acp Thanks! |
| AR45s aren't all that common. CNC Guns makes a lower that accepts grease gun mags. Ron Williams makes DI uppers. He also converts grease gun mags to work in standard lowers. Oly has their version as well. Basically, if you want a .45 AR pistol, it's going to be custom. |

When your FFL completes your 4473 it should say "other" where they would normally write rifle, pistol or shotgun. Until its assembled as pistol or rifle it is neither. |

"Other" is reserved for NFA firearms and oddities such as pistol grip-only shotguns. |

The only options are long gun, handgun, and other. |
