I picked up this 12.5 upper super cheap with the plan to sbr it.  I figured I needed to put it on a pistol lower until I got my paper work in order.  Bought a PWS RE and installed it on a new lower I had in the spares box.  First time I have played with these without a stock attached, I like it.  Now I want to do a 7.5' on a flat top upper when my paper work arrives and 12.5 becomes a sbr.  I'm looking at my 14.5 and thinking "man, that barrel is long"

I'm not positive but I think this A1 upper is all Colt.

Was the lower sold to you as a rifle or "other" before you threw it in your parts box?

7.5's make every AR you own seem outrageously huge from that point on.

Other.  I picked up four of these when on sale for $50 each last Xmas.  I should have my "trust" finished next week and then I'll start dealing with the atf form.

No kidding, this is going to feed the addiction

I have a similar upper on my DPMS lower, I haven't been able to find any kind of stamps or markings on the barrel or the upper really. Only difference is someone put a larger sized forward assist on mine. I have no intent of making it an SBR but I am planning on building one. Love your set up!

Thanks.  I'm seeing a lot of AR parts being listed in my local gun forums, some pretty good deals.  I picked up this ACE ultra light RE for $40, should be good for a sbr or pistol.  A A2 stripped upper, missing the flip aperture with a new BM BCG for $100.  I've got the aperture and dust cover so $12 for a FA and it's complete.   I would like to find a deal on a 7.5 barrel, need to order lowers.

The pic at the start of the thread is a PWS pistol RE and the one above your post is a ACE ultra light RE.

QFT.

I run 7.5" 7.62x39, and it shoots and handles like a dream.

If only I was in an SBR state... I'd throw a stock on it..
