Yeah the upper would be stripped and I would complete it in pistol config

I don't think so.  Why are you concerned?  Have you read any laws / regulations / rumors relating to side-charging uppers?

I have a side-charging 9mm pistol that has been shown off to an ATF agent... she thought it was cool.

Only thing that determines the legality is the lower..... as long as the lower is virgin, it doesn't matter where the rest of the parts came from.

now i cant seem to decide which one i want :p i dont really care if the handle reciprocates with the bolt cuz i dont put my hand near it anyways :p
i was thinking the LAR upper or the mega to go with my mega lower.
