I've seen those crazy bayonets on Glocks and such and got me wondering if you can put a bayonet on an Ar pistol? Full size of coarse.

I guess you could get one of those clamp-on bayonet lugs (see cheaperthandirt.com) and screw it onto the barrel under the handguards.  At the right distance, the ring of the bayonet would fit around the flash hider correctly.  But you would need to have the bottom half of your handguard removed to install it, so you'd have to go with those magpul MOE handguards.

Problem is, I don't know if the clamp-on lug will fit under the gas tube, or if the barrel profile will be too thick for it to fit around.

You could also get free float handguards and have them custom cut to expose an area underneath for it.

There are a few in the pistol photo thread that have bayos on them.  They're all chopped/welded on the tang, though, to make them fit.

NOT MINE

They look like that.  To fit a full-length M7 or M9 on there, the barrel has to be long enough past the front sight to accomodate it, or you can mount one of those bayonet adapters like mentioned above.

If you had a carbine gas system (~7" hand guards), you'd need a 14.5" barrel for it to fit right.  For a midlength (~9" handguards), you need about 15.5" of barrel total for it to fit, and the ring sits a little too far forward on the flash suppressor on a 16" middy barrel (it works, but looks wrong).  So, for a pistol gas system (~4" handguards), you would need about an 11.5" barrel.  If you're willing to have really short pistol-length handguards and a longer barrel like that, and if you could find one of those barrels or have one made, you'd be in business.
