If your AR Pistol or SBR experiences FTE, never at the start, but always in the middle of a range session, it may be that heat is an issue. The chamber dimension changes as the barrel heats up. If the clearance between chamber and cartridge case was already too close, heat expansion may cause the chamber to stick to the cartridge case, causing FTEs.
Turning the barrel nut or forearm into heat sinks may improve your reliability. Or getting a barrel that's more generous in its chamber dimensions. Modifications to Improve Reliability of Short-Barreled M-16 Variants |
