I'm getting ready to put my 7.5" upper together. What hand guard do you like and why? I can't decide if I want a KISS with fixed FSB or a low pro gas block and flip up. I see short tubes and short railed hand guards. Then theres always the 7" free float.

I've got a free float rubber coated tube on mine. (7&1/2 bbl) It works fine for me. Comfy and easy to grip.
I went with a railed gas block and mounted a buis on that. A riser under my red dot
allows co witness of the sights.

I tried the f marked fsb first, but couldn't use any kind of scope with it.

Hope that helps a little.

Where did you find a rubber covered tube?

Keep it simple unless you want accessories such as a light or laser.

For my 7" I went with the railed gas block and a free float rail.  But I wanted the look and feel of the rubber rail guards.  Like Subconcious said, unless your going for something specific, it might be best to go with a standard hand guard.

Anyone tried the MI pistol free float? I have carbine free floats from them. It looks good but damn, 8.3 OZ.

Damn Tom, thats exactly what I talked to you about a couple weeks ago. Good to see it actually produced. Nice job. Where did that hand guard come from?

Must have a set of those handguards! I didn't see them on your site. Is this something you plan on selling?

I went with a low profile gas block, CAR length quad rail handguard, and flip sights.

Overall I love having the handguard all the way up the barrel. The only down side is that you probably have to remove the handguard in order to remove the flash hider.

Oh man, that is awesome!  That was why I got a 10.25" barrel instead of a 7" one - I wanted to use normal carbine handguards.  I would have gotten the shorter one if I had known about these shorty guards. Neat!

Is Cav Arms going to make them?  They look like the coyote brown color of ones I have used on a couple of my builds is why I ask.
