So I have a Bushy 97s Carbon pistol. The "muzzle break" on it isn't exactly cutting it any more. As you may know, they used some sort of odd snap on brake, and as such there is no threading. I want to put a Piggy on it, they are just that great. Any thoughts/advice on how to deal with getting this barrel threaded so I can get a real brake on there? |

The outer diameter of the barrel under the snap on brake is the correct size for threading. All you need to do is find someone to chuck the barrel in a lathe and cut the threads. Mt Carbon 15 pistol is already over functioning, the extractor bends the rim of the fired cases. A pig brake increases the gas pressure in the system, and will make the problem worse. Gary |
U can do it cheaper yourself if u want. The dia is the same. I have done 2, a 97s rifle and a 21s pistol. The rifle is easy as hell and the pistol requires a little more work like removing the handguard, gas block, etc., to cut the threads deep enough to thread a fs far enough back. I ordered a die and a thread alignment tool from brownells for around $50.00 I think, don't forget the handle for the die if u don't have one and the cutting oil. U might be able to find stuff cheaper if u shop around, don't know. Both of mine turned out beautifully and saved me alot of money since I had 2 I wanted done, considering the cost of machine work and shipping. If u do put a reg fh on u will need to order a threaded spacer fron Bushy, since the threaded part is so long(between the gas block and the end of barrel). I can't remember the part # at the moment, they did ship from the factory with them. When I ordered mine it was less than 6.00. Hope this helps u out. |
