Is there any legal or functional reason you can't use a long rifle buffer tube assembly rather than a shorter carbine or pistol buffer tube and still be a pistol?  Are you required to use the shortest buffer tube designated for a pistol?

If the intent of the "No Buttstock" rule for pistols is to prevent shouldering the pistol, what is legally preventing you from shouldering the pistol on the buffer tube assembly without an attached butt pad?

Thanx

1). No
2). No
3). You'll have to ask the BATFE what their intent was, and whether or not shouldering the Receiver Extension is illegal.  This is a technical forum, not a .gov Agency forum.
