| This is next-level cool! I had been thinking about a 7mm-08 large frame AR for a few years as an analog to 280 British, kinda the same "what if" scenario where NATO doesn't adopt 7.62 and the AR10 becomes a more widely adopted platform. But you did the real thing, bravo! |

B) would that chambering be efficient in a pistol length (i.e. 7 - 12")? Not only that brass pricey , but you'll need a 5.45x39 bolt head . Id just trim some 350 legend brass and use a std 556 bolt . Id check with x-caliber for the bbl . * oh , and heck yeah that'd be efficient in 7-12" . Case volume to bore area . * Im also not seeing anything below 100gr on .284 bullets . 85-90gr on .277 though The 7x33 Sako compares well with the 30 carbine . With 78gr bullet at 2400fps = 998ftlb - though thats factory at 40ksi . Load out to 60ksi might be more fun. Could chuck up some Barnes ttsx and cut some base off ...maybe get it down to 75-85gr . Or same with hornady 120gr ftx ...trim the back off and add a crimp on gas check . Sierra does have 100gr varminter Midway has Legend brass at 30 cents/pc |

I do wonder what would be a better option between 7x33 vs 7mmBR. Answers on a postcard. Back to the 280 Brit I ran another 100rds on thursday out to 700yds and had good results. Was able to dial my previous dope and make first round hits at each distance so it's at least repeatable on a standard D28 plate. I started to process that same brass for reloading this evening and primer pockets are still tight after five total loads so far. A few of the first batch I converted from 7.62 brass and turned the necks on are starting to loosen up and I culled about a dozen of those. Those early pieces were also running a looser headspace before I got it dialed in properly. Now running headspace at three thousands and it seems to be working pretty well. Reliability has been excellent over the last about 800rds or so with a total of around 1k fired so far. Took the first couple hundred to work out bullet, powder type, charge, headspace on the brass, gassing, buffer weight etc. |

Chamber, throat and bore after about 1k rounds fired so far without anything more than a couple drags with an oiled 308 bore snake. Very little copper, carbon or any fire cracking so far. As it sits currently it hits at 800yds, recoils between a 308 and 5.56, seems kind to the barrel, feeds reliably, has similar ballistics to a 55g 5.56 with more than double the bullet weight, runs on standard AR10 parts besides the barrel and feeds properly. Only downside is that it won't run in a small frame.
