I got this photo from a friend of mine working in Jordan. Its basically an M4 that with Colt markings, and I was wondering if anyone can help me identify it.

Kind of reminds me of an XM177E2 from the old days.

Looks like a very cheaply built upper on a colt lower.

Aluminum gas block...

Is the flash hider even timed correctly?

One of the first on the market back in the 80's. It's been to Bianchi Cup and a myriad of places..LOL  Still running strong. I even have a 3X adapter for it.

This. I can't see forge marks on either side of the carry handle either, so I'm guessing it was built with eBay parts. It probably was a legit m4 at some point and either needed a new barrel or the owner wanted a shorter barrel. As you know it is hard to pin a fsb, so the set screw gas block was easy.
ETA, at first I thought it was an a1 flash hider, but now I see the left side is solid. Some people (my self included) time the flash hider that way, normally 45° to the right, so that the venting gas pushes the gun into your left hand.

Not an XM177E2, but nice.  Your pic looks like a re-weld or old school billet lower.

XM177E2 has an 11.5" barrel, which was the main change they made from the XM177 to create more dwell time so it would cycle reliably.

It's an old SGW worked over by Rock Island circa 1984. Refitted with an OLY match barrel.  It is sure fun.

The lower has machine marks all over.  I'm not sure what they did but they are all over the left side.
