Hello everyone. Damn!!! I haven't been on here in a looooong time!!
Anyway, I purchased a new Armalite AR-10 last week. I live in California, so my rifle is still in jail for 5 more days. It's a basic AR, with the plastic handguards and 18" barrel. I want to add a quad rail and maybe a red dot. It currently has no sights on it at all.. I heard that I can't just put any quad rail on it. I was told Armalite are particular when it comes to parts. I'm looking for some ideas on which quad rail to get, that's bang for the buck. I was going to buy either a Vortex Strikefire 2 or maybe a Nikon scope for it. Still deciding what I'm going to do with this rifle, as far as if I will make it for longer distance. Or maybe a battle type rifle. |

The dude said it's for an Armalite and made of good quality. Not sure though. I emailed a few others who purchased these from this guy and they told me the rail is stout. |

I personally would NEVER trust ebay for anything firearm related. For so many reasons, i won't start right now.
Then you have mfgs using the old trick of boxing shit up in the states and claiming "Made in USA". For just $120 more, you can get an actual Armalite rail made by Armalite, for the Armalite AR10. In Illinois. Which are very nice, very well made, and mate up perfectly to the Armalite receiver. The same can't be said for the eBay rail. Then you have people who have no idea what they're looking at, calling things good just because they like it. Not knowing it's out of spec, or made with sub-par material/methods. Blah blah fucking blah. Don't go cheap on your Armalite. It'll leave a bad taste in your mouth permanently. |

I built my Armalite AR10 rifle and used Daniel Defense's Lite rail. Armilte makes a relatively inexpensive "match rifle" float tube that works great if you don't want to hang stuff on your rail.
Look for a rail that allows you to use your original barrel nut, otherwise you'll have to remove it. Specialty tools are involved when working on AR10's and any AR15 tools you own probably won't work. |

I used this on my last Armalite. Great handguard, good grip, but it rang like crazy when i would charge it. Not a big deal at all, but got a little annoying after awhile. I wrapped it with paracord and ringing stopped. |
| Twist rate is 1:11.25 . I ended up purchasing the Armalite 15" competition rail. They had a Cyber Monday sale still going all week last week. I just need to call Armalite tomorrow and give them my model number, so I can figure out what journal size the barrel has for the low profile gas block I will need. |

Some new info, excuse my ignorance as well.
I called Armalite and got the low down on this mystery rifle. It's a DEF10-CA A-SERIES rifle. The heart of the rifle is the same as the Tac-16 model. It does have a 16" barrel, not an 18" like I mistakenly stated before. It has a .750 journal. It takes the standard Pmags like all the other A-series rifles. |

Mistakes happen.
I was thinking someone switched the barrel and claimed original 18". Still a great barrel though. Be aware, some pmags are tight in the magwell, i think it's mainly the earlier Gen3 mags, which i think are all gone, and only the good/proper stuff remains. Lots of rifles had issues with the new design, but Magpul has since rectified the issue. Don't use cheap parts. Don't try swapping the bolts for anything with a gimmicky coating. Use only H3 or heavier mil spec style carbine buffers, coupled with Armalite's operating spring, and you'll have trouble free fun. Some here have posted about having good results with the Springco springs, but that will actually void your warranty of Armalite finds out. Only way they will is if you mistakenly send the rifle in with the Springco spring. Anyways, have fun with it! |

I just purchased a Vtac 2 point sling and a keymod sling swivel UTG Pro with Midwest qd ring. This rifle is going to be a fun one. Still need to go site it in. I'll probably do it this weekend. The tech at Armalite told me the stock and grip are interchangeable with everything else, besides the handguard. |
