Ok. I took the 7.62x39 route.   And yes, light primer strikes with Russian ammo.  I want to replace the firing pin and place a stronger hammer spring in the lower.

Will this help?  Anything else I should do?

I used a good quality American made brass cased ammo in the gun, and it was reliable and accurate.  The rifle functions great.

Regular hammer spring did not matter in my builds.
I went with the RedX Arms 7.62X39 extended firing pin and had no more light strikes. $10 shipped.

What brand upper do you have?

Enhanced firing pin if you don't already have one.

Neither of my x39 ARs needed heavier hammer springs, both have match triggers in them.  No light strike issues.

They are just parts, I assemble all my AR's.
Fatboy tactical barrel and BCG's.
Random uppers, some Aero, some Anderson, some Colt, it doesn't matter.

I don't believe I ever had a light primer strike in mine. I "enhanced" my firing pin myself by chucking it up in the drill press and profiling the nose of the firing pin and also the shoulder so I got a little more protrusion.

I didn't have to do anything to my PSA 7.62 upper and it runs just fine with a regular hammer spring in my lower.  I have switched it around on various carbine and A2 stocked lowers that I have with no problems.  The enhancements that I have seen others do on 7.62 AR's are either mods to the bolt tail or firing pin, as discussed above.  The extra power hammer spring could help but you probably won't like the trigger pull.

The $10 firing pin worked.  No light primer strikes.   ran about 120 rounds through the Stoner upper. No hiccups

Thanks for the advise.
