So i want to get into the .300 BLK world, and have been looking around and a thought struck me. Its not something I necessarily want to do because all it does is save you $200 and gives you a bit of a headache, but is it possible to get an 8.5" barrel and pin a suppressor similarly to how we pin flash hiders on 14.5s to get the overall barrel length to 16 in order to avoid the Form 1 for the SBR. Additionally, if you did, how would you clean the suppressor?

Sure, why not.

If you pin the tube so it is not removable get a suppressor that has a screw off cap the tube would stay on the bbl then you could clean the internals. A second option would plug the holrfill with solvent let set then drain and rinse,or ultra sonic clean the can while in the bbl.
Last choice make it a pistol and use a rifle buffer tube.

If you went with a permanent can of some sort, with a .30 rifle-rated can, I suppose you could just shot hot loaded supersonics every now and then to blast out the crud..

Some C3's sell them like that.
But you still have a stamp, just not 2 of them.

I don't know how you would pin it, but the gemtech 300 blk suppressor would be easy to clean on the barrel.

You don't normally clean rifle suppressors, they are sealed. Stay away from cast bullets and you'll be fine.

I believe griffin has a suppressor specifically made for this application.

I know several people who have pinned a suppressor to avoid a SBR stamp.

Yeah, the Spartan 3, but it's a 5.56

Bummer. I figured they would make it in each caliber.

You already have to pay for the stamp for the suppressor. NFA is more addictive then regular ARs in general. And both are not cheap. You might of well suck it up and pay for two stamps, one for the lower and one for the suppressor. This allows you to move the suppressor to different rifles and you can change different uppers for the lower.

Just my opinion.

Just go ahead and SBR a lower.  It's really not worth the hassle to pin and weld a can on.  Hell, I'm regretting pinning and welding muzzle devices to get to 16" now.  I should of just SBR'd everything.

Yes you could do that. But if you went through the hassle of getting suppressor then a SBR shouldnt be difficult. IMO its worth the $200 to be able to change barrels, make changes, to the rifle, etc...

Also, most barrels will wear out before the suppressor will. And on most of my builds I have to remove the suppressor to take on/off the rail and to adjust the gas block.

Trust me, welding your suppressor to the barrel to avoid a $200 stamp will be WAY more hassle and likely cost you many times more than $200 in the long run.

If the Hearing Protection Act ever passes I believe many rifles will be made this way.

Get ready for a whole new market of integrally suppressed rifles.

Also i think there's something about getting your stamp money back if you bought after a certain date?

Something like this would work and allow you to take the suppressor on and off.
