I've have a hand in building at least half a dozen, closer to a dozen probably, AR lowers over the last year or so.
All of them have been attached to standard AR15 (5.56 or 223 Wylde) uppers.
I've decided on trying out 6.5 Grendel.
Because the selection is somewhat dismal I really could not find what I wanted, prebuilt.  So I'm building my own.
I have an Aero Precision upper on order, along with the FA & DC parts.
I ordered a Double Star 20" Bull Barrel with gas block and bolt from J&T.
After ordering I wondered if, because it is purchased as a kit, it was already headspaced.  I can't get ahold of J&T on the phone - during business hours - it rings a few times then someone simply hangs up.  (Nice.)
Has anyone ordered something like this from J&T/Doublestar?

Is it already headspaced?

I have a 223/556 Bolt-Carrier Assembly that I will replace the bolt with a 6.5 Grendel bolt that I ordered with this kit.

Once it comes it, I will likely figure out which free float tube to use.

Any help or input would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Yes, it comes with the bolt already as part of that package.

I've recently bought one of their DS-4 barrels in 6.5 grendel.   It basically a m4 profile 16".  It did not come with a bolt.  It took me awhile to get through but finally did.  My question was rather they used a 7.62x39 bolt or a type ll bolt.  They stated they used a type ll bolt.

When you get your Stainless Steel 6.5 Grendel together post pictures and a range report.

Thanks folks. Any recommendations for mags? No Lancers or Pmags in 6.5 Grendel... lol
A lot of mixed reviews for ASC, C Products, and even e-lander (annoying rattles).

I have a half dozen C Prod mags in 6.5g and I'm happy with them.

I saw your post in the magazine section so I'll respond here.  The E-Lander mags have been getting positive feed back on the the 6.5 Grendel forums.  I noticed on my 17 round mags the rattle went away after leaving the mags loaded a couple weeks and letting the springs take set.  General opinion is the E-Lander are good and have consistent fit and finish.  I have not noticed any complaints of rattles on the 24 round E-Lander mags.

I personally like the size and capacity of the 17 round mags.  I have several 24 round ASC and C Products mags but rarely use them.  I found myself using the nine round or 14 round mags the most.  This is probably because I shoot my 6.5 Grendels the most off the bench.  I tend to use my 5.56 and 22 LR AR's for off hand and CQB style shooting.

I really never had any issues with my C Products or ASC nine or 14 round mags but in the future I'll probably buy E-Lander 6.5 Grendel mags.

I ordered a 22" SS upper from JSE surplus and have been very happy with it. With a 95 gr V-max handload on top of 33 grains of CFE 223 I group in less than .4 of an inch consistently. I believe the barrel is a heavy mossberg and bolt is an Alexander Arms. Great customer service with my order as well. $530 bucks assembled. They had many different options to choose from. Just in case you missed them in your research!

I'm a big fan of JSE. I recommend them
Their $500 uppers all had threaded barrels.
I wanted a target crown.
