So I've built AR-15's using many various LPKs. But only experience with an AR308 is DPMS LPK. The price is not much more for CMMG. But I've seen a lot of reviews mentioning broken bolt stop screws. Palmetto State Armory has proprietary take-down and pivot pins at least, maybe more. I am not sure, but I think Aero has some proprietary parts in their kits. What is your recommendation for AR308 LPK?
I'm really only concerned about DPMS pattern lowers. ETA: I'm building on a few different sourced 80%'ers. They all look to be either milled by the same manufacturer or at the least from the same specs. TM, Ares and the other two escape me at the moment, Broken Arms and Thunder Arms maybe. |
| What lower are you building on? I'd just match the manufacture of the lower with the parts kit for ease of assembly. My Aero LPK was nothing to brag about but nothing to complain about either. I just wish they had included the 4-40 set screw for the rear take down pin...but that's not really that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. |

Added the lowers to the OP, Tactical Machining and Ares. Usually the lowers come with the screw for the rear take down, they aren't included in the kits (from my short experiences that is) |

In that case I'd probably go with the CMMG or DPMS kits. The other ones will have proprietary bits that will have to be replaced, so unless you get a screaming deal on one they're probably not worth it. <ETA> Which brings up another though depending on how much the 308AR LPK's are you might come ahead by getting one of the cheaper AR15 LPK's and just buying the 308 specific parts you need. |

I've been pricing that out too. I don't mind having extra parts laying around, so that may be the route I go for the next few kits, for now I need to pull the trigger ASAP and get 4-5 kits, like yesterday. I may just order a couple of each to decide on my own if I can see any quality differences.

IDK if that holds true now, but it's what I'm continuing to do with my upcoming builds. Even back then the FCG pins were hit and miss even among to "top tier/flavor of the week" brands, so sometimes you'd have to buy anti-rotation pins. |
