So I've got an 18 inch 5.56 that I'm looking at switching the barrel out to one in 277 wolverine.

From my reading it supposed to have enough knockdown power to take down a whitetail within a reasonable distance and has minimal parts that will need to be changed, just the barrel.

I'm just wondering what the thoughts of this round for deer are from those shooting it.

Thanks.

Don't own either but from what I have seen the 25-45 sharps edges it on energy and flat shooting plus is a sammi cartridge

It's my hunting round of choice this season, I've used a few other calibers but I like the simplicity of all field-serviceable parts and mags being interchangeable with standard/mil-spec stuff. Based on my experience with the same projectiles in the 6.8 I expect excellent results from the Wolverine.

I handload and like to run subsonic rounds with a suppressor so it's a sweet little do-all setup for my purposes.
