Hey everyone,

I recently ordered the rest of my parts for my first AR-10. I traded/partly sold off a Remington 700P w/ 26" barrel because I wanted something a little bit more customizable and able to support widely used parts without the use of a gunsmith -- but I still wanted a 1,000 meter rifle. Here is the breakdown -- what are your thoughts ? I am not familiar with where some of the parts are compared to the rest of the pack. Did I do well ? Do I have room for improvement ?

Aero precision stripped billet upper
PSA complete lower
Aero precision charging handle
Rainer arms match nickel boron BCG(NIbX)
22" nation match grade fluted barrel, 1/10 twist. Shileen
Lancer adjustable muzzle brake
Odin gun works 15" keymod rail
Bcm low profile gas system
Optic (not wishing to discuss currently)

The first upgrades that I'm thinking of doing are a Giessele (or comparable in quality) trigger and I like the Ruger Precision Rifle buttstock, so I'll likely swap to something similar with an adjustable cheek molding. Any recommendations would be extremely appreciated.

Did you get the high profile adapter for the Odin rail?

Might want to look at Luth-AR stocks if you want good adjustability.

There were some people who had issues fitting the Aero and PSA receivers together.

With any .308 or large frame build, my advice is to stick with the same company for upper/lower.

When I connected the two I noticed that it was really difficult to get the rear takedown pin to fully connect to the other side of the lower receiver. It would go through the middle hole (upper receiver that drops in) but I had to use a rubber hammer to get it to go all the way through. From what a gunsmith told me -- I shouldn't have any functional issues. He actually told me (without looking at the rifle) that it may be a good thing because oversized takedown pins help improve the harmony of the rifle. Any thoughts on that ?

Recommend you check headspace with a proper set of gauges since you have every piece from a different vendor.

You didn't say what you had for a stock, tube and buffer.

With your list of parts I also recommend you browse through the threads here. Save yourself a ton of hassle.

Let us know if/how it shoots.

There was someone who tried fitting a PSA upper on an LR-308 lower, and the Bolt Carrier would bind inside the extension tube.  The parts didn't fit well together at all.

Test-fit and troubleshoot the BCG before settling on the receiver mix-match you have.  PSA has blem PA-10 uppers for $69 right now.  There is no reason to use a different company's upper with your lower.
