I asked this in the Hometown section but here seems appropriate as well. Is there anyone in VA that can finish milling an 80% .308 lower for me? I'm locating parts for a new build and found one I like. I just don't have the means to finish the work. Thanks.

If you have a hand drill and a nice wood router you can finish the work yourself.
Also, asking someone to mill it out for you is "manufacturing" and requires a serial number, paperwork etc. ...Also, I'm selling a .308 easy jig with drill and router bits on the equipment exchange if you want to check it out. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_7_120/1408699_80__Arms_AR10_Easy_Jig_With_Easy_Jig_Tool_Kit.html |
| As Cory pointed out, you cannot have someone else complete the work for you, unless that person is a licensed manufacturer, in which case they'd have to serialize it and transfer it to you as a firearm. Also, due to ATF 2015-1, you cannot use another person's equipment to complete it, either. You must complete it yourself with equipment you own. |

Even if you found someone they CAN NOT do any work to your lower. Buy a jig and the tooling. its pretty simple. The above mentioned "easy jig" is a way to go. I use a jig but I have a JET mill/drill press combo machine with an XY table and vise.
If you take your time, read read and read some more you will get good results. Just take your time. Don't use a cheap drill press as the chuck will fall out from the side force of the end mills and you will need a new lower, new drill press, and most likely some new fingers! PasoGunner |
