I have a DPMS 308 that was put together with a Troy MFR 13.8 rail.  It is more in both length and circumference then I want.   I'm looking at the Midwest Industries tubes.  First off are they well liked?  Secondly, MI or any other use the same barrel nut as the MI?

I like the MI products.  I believe that the MI barrel nut is proprietary.

Edit:  I've used MI products for years.  They are local to me, but I'm no shill.  Every one of their products that I ever used did exactly what it was supposed to do.

I replaced a mid-length and a carbine Magpul MOE hand guards with 12" Midwest Industries Gen2 SS rails. I could not be happier. I like them so much I'm using the .308 version on my first .308 build. Totally changed both rifles. Can't imagine using anything else

What upper did you use for your .308?  Which MI handguard?  My interest is related to upper/HG rail height and alignment.

I work at Camp Bob regularly.  The LQ out on 46 East is like home.  Mid-State Fair is rapidly approaching!!

This is the one I'm ordering. This is the same as the one I replaced on my AR15 just for .308MI .308 rail

I live out at Heritage Ranch. Work in San Ardo

MI has two heights of rails

I used Ares Armor billet DPMS style upper. It should match their lower best. It's a high profile

Have a MI SSK and I love it. The slim profile is comfortable to hold, it's light and it looks and feels like a quality made product. Only thing I might have changed in retrospect is M-lock vs keymod

I used an Apex handguard. It uses standard barrel nut. No rails on it, which I like. Rails can be bought and put on though. I really like the texture of it, and it's a very solid design.
