What rail are you going with?

Most quality guards come with nuts.

Any AR-15 barrel nut will work. If you are going free-float (recommended) then your rail will either use a standard AR barrel nut (like the Centurion) or if you go with something like a Daniel Defense, then it will come with their proprietary barrel nut.

Either way, you are GTG with the 6.8. The only difference is barrel, bolt, and mags

As stated in other post, a standard nut will
work. I have an ARP barrel and a second one being delivered today for my 3rd 6.8 build. They are great barrels and very accurate and get a free floating hand guard.

Just to confirm: you are talking about the nut that secures the barrel to the upper receiver (aka: barrel nut) and not a nut that covers the muzzle threads (aka: thread protector)? The barrel nut should be as stated, just like any other AR15 a either standard or proprietary depending on your hand guard choice. The thread protector (or muzzle device) just needs to be matched to the thread pitch/diameter (usually 5/8-24).

Yep. Love my 6.8. It's my favorite rifle. Youll be happy with one.

I too have a 5R barrel from Harrison.  VERY accurate rifle.  I have been very happy with my 120 gr Hornady and IMR8208 XBR powder at around 29.5 gr (your mileage may vary).  It's a compressed load but works well out of my 16" AR Performance barrel.  I have a thought that the 8208 powder which is kind of on the slower end, probably burns at a faster rate when compressed so much.  Not any fact, just my gut feeling.  Either way, I get great groups out of it.

I also have the Adams Arms piston system on that rifle, and it uses a mid length gas system.

You know I've built my fair share of uppers.  Isn't the Barrel Nut used highly dependent on the type hand guard used?   The standard barrel nut works fine with a Delta Ring assembly.    I've not used any myself but do they make any hand guards that work/connect to a standard barrel nut guard?   Every upper I have assembled did not use the standard barrel nut because of the hand guards I installed.

I know about the hand guards that attach to a Delta Ring assy.   Got a few of them myself.     Guess I need to look at some of these.

Finally have a da-da-damn winner in this thread, technically.

And the barrel nut is provided by the FF HG's manf.

Sorry, gunnut284.  I didn't mean to gaff you off in the mix.
