Thanks |

The .270 AR is for the AR15 , not a long action round.
It's designed by Harrison Beene from AR Performance, the guy that fixed the problems with the 6.8SPC that remington messed up. It's an incredible round for an AR15 size gun. In the fall of 2013 we will introduce the 270AR, a .277 caliber cartridge capable of propelling the wide range of great 130gr 270 bullets to 2800fps out of AR15 20" barrels. It is based on the 6.5x47 Lapua or Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor. |

It is my understanding that the parent case is the 6.5x47 Lapua You form with a shortened 6.5x47 Lapua fl bushing die, best brass is 6.5 Creedmoor but looks like any with the 308 family case head works , some you loose case volume and some need necks turned., but the 6.5 Creedmoor is pretty much straight forward slowly resize in a few hits and trim to lenght. Did have to shorten a 7mm/08 seating die also |

Picked the sizing die up from H and shortened the seating die my self, pretting straight forward on the sizing die mod. Case trim to is 1.646 Do you know what case capacity is? I'm curious about this round. I'm about to give up on building a Grendel. Been waiting 11+ months on parts. How many rounds fit in a 6.8 SPC mag? |
|
Mag capacity according to H is something like 10-11 rounds in a 15 round mag.
I'm wondering how they do in a 25 round PRI mag. Seems like if they will work with the curve of the mag and not bind or anything, You should be able to get 18-20 in there. If you can get 20 that would be awesome. |

It's pretty impressive. Yes, it is. I haven't looked up long range ballistics, but given the velocities reported, it should at least equal the 6.5 grendel out to 1,000 despite the Grendel using bullets with a higher BC. I was planning on building a 6.5 grendel, but may hold off. Grendel brass is very expensive, but I can find once fired 308 brass fairly cheap to convert to 270 AR |

Interesting. pretty much the case trim length as the 6.5mm PCC...The large case head diameter seems like it will need ARP's dedicated bolt and barrel extension combo (BR/BRX style)...Interesting non the less. |
